Location- Timber Trail Lodge is located in the Superior National Forest and on a chain of 4 interconnected lakes with 11,000 acres of water to explore. Here at Timber Trail Lodge you can enter the Boundary Waters Wilderness Area directly from our property, and we are located only 7 miles from Ely Minnesota. In addition to offering the standard Northern Minnesota vacation resort activities, we can offer the additional oppertunity of incorporating a day or overnight Boundary Waters Canoeing Adventure into your resort vacation. By being close to Ely, Minnesota, Timber Trail Lodge also offers some reactional activities that can only be found in Ely, Minnesota. Timber Trail's Most Popular Activities- Some of the more popular summer activities our guests at Timber Trail Lodge enjoy include: fishing our chain of lakes, reactional boating, swimming at our natural sand beach, hiking to nearby water falls, day canoe trips into the Boundary Waters, float plane rides, an evening of northwoods music around the campfire, and naturalist activities. Minnesota, you will find the International Wolf Center, the North American Bear Center, the Dorothy Molter Museum, and numerous opertunities for shopping and dinning. Ely Area Activities- In the Ely Area, you will find numerous golf courses, the Fortune Bay Casino, the Tower/Soudan Underground Mine, the Vince Shute Bear Santuary, and a large variety of very popular wilderness hiking trails. Ely Winter Activities- Here at Timber Trail, we offer Dogsledding, Snowmobiling, X-Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, and the oppertunity just to relax and curl up near a fireplace and just enjoy a good book. We are located next to the Tomahawk Snowmobile Trail which was rated as one of the best snowmobile trails in the world by Snow Trak magazine.
